Our
valuation service provides a confidential and professional service to
solicitors, executors and trustees, as well as private clients.
Valuations for
Sale
We are always
pleased to provide verbal valuations FREE of charge, either at the
saleroom or at your home. Customers intending to bring items to the
saleroom are advised to telephone and book an appointment, to ensure a valuer is available. Alternatively, where possible, we will give an
estimate of value from an emailed image or photograph.
Formal
Valuations
We have an experienced team of
valuers who undertake valuations for the purposes of Inheritance Tax (previously known as
Probate) Insurance and Family Division.
The fee for
formal written valuations is worked out as time spent with a minimum charge for such
work at £150 +VAT.
Inheritance
Tax (formerly Probate)
We offer a
sympathetic though comprehensive service to the executor, personal representative or
private individual from the initial inspection and valuation through to
the clearance of the entire property (if required). It is not uncommon
for a valuer to attend and give a verbal appraisal at short notice,
offering advice when required, as to the various options that may be
available.
We are aware that
often a property, whatever it’s size, needs to be cleared of its
contents and the value be disbursed as quickly as possible with very few
‘upfront costs’ to the executors. To this end, all transport,
storage (where applicable) and
clearance costs will be deducted from the auction proceeds with detailed
accounts of all monies relating to the estate being available at all
times
Once an estate is
consigned for sale, the whole auction process will be overseen by our
probate administrators, Janice Smith and Catherine Hockley, who will
advise on sale dates, estimates and results and are always on hand to answer queries and give
advice on any aspect of the estate.
Where security is a consideration,
we can remove the more valuable items and arrange secure storage at short
notice, arranging the clearance of less valuable or un-saleable items at
a later date.
House
Clearances
We aim to provide
a prompt and comprehensive service for the clearance of houses, and by
using our own removal men and transport, we can ensure confidentiality,
integrity and reliability, as well as competitive rates. If you are
unsure of the value of items destined for disposal it is always worth
considering a visit by one of our valuers. We have rescued many items
from skips and bins of behalf of the owners, some raising many thousands
of pounds!
Our valuers are often praised
for their thoroughness and will check through all the items and consign
them to either a General Auction or Antiques Auction, whichever is
appropriate, although there will be always some items which are
unsuitable for sale. After clearing the house of general household
waste we can arrange, if required, for the property to be cleaned.
